Gary Nevilles’ home plans quashed!

Posted by Megan Krasewitz | Posted in General News | Posted on 30-06-2010

Just when you think it can’t get any weirder, Manchester United Captain Gary Neville planned to build a zero carbon underground property. Infamous footballer and environmentalist Gary wanted to build his new family home on green belt land which meant he must prove that his eccentric design was ‘ outstanding and ground breaking’ in order for the work to be permitted! With his elaborate plans for solar panels, a wind turbine and a ground source heat pump it is no wonder his teammates compared his proposal to the Teletubbies underground home!

The footballers hopes were quashed by Bolton council members who rejected the plan for his 8,000 sq ft property despite its environmental benefits and innovative design.  Gary was met by angry protestors donning placards at the meeting in Bolton who claimed the structures ‘environmental attributes had been exaggerated.’

Considering Peterborough is one of the smallest cities in the UK is certainly does not lack in places to go and things to see. From bowling alleys to museums, Peterborough has something for everyone. Centrally located among the East Anglian fens and the edge of the Midlands, the city provides an outstanding quality of life. This historic cathedral city has a number of attractions, recreation facilities and places of cultural interest. The city is presently undergoing massive renovation and development which incorporates the expansion of cultural, sporting and recreation activities accessible in and around the city centre. This development is adjusted to provide hundreds of new employments for residents of the city and expand Peterborough’s recognition as a city that revivals any other modern European city. Peterborough is quickly expanding to meet the demand for new houses, and is home to a community of diverse cultures. It has everything from traditional market towns to American-style suburban neighbourhoods and better yet the prices are a segment of the cost of nearby London which is only a 50 minute train journey away, making it the ideal place for commuters. With all the discussion of development you’d be forgiven for thinking that you have to drive miles to find a stretch of open countryside, yet Peterborough has a 500-acre country park (Ferry Meadows) within the 2,000 acre Nene Park which is a generalized centre for an array of outdoor pursuits, this includes walking, cycling, sailing, fishing, bird watching, horse riding, camping and family picnics.

Peterborough is the ideal place to call home for families, young professional and the ancient alike. Whether you like the hustle and bustle of a vibrant city centre or elect a quite village with a good local pub Peterborough has it all.

The 2010 Budget and its Effects on the property market!

Posted by Megan Krasewitz | Posted in General News | Posted on 23-06-2010

With yesterdays long awaited budget announcement done and dusted the property market remains generally unscathed.  The 250,000 Stamp Duty break for first time buyers remained the same, whilst Landlords owning furnished rental holiday homes were breathing a sigh of relief as the restrictive tax measures were thrown out.

Capital Gains Tax however, left buy-to-let landlords fearing for their properties financial future, with the rise for high-rate tax payers being increase d from 18% to 28%, although comparitevely CGT from three years ago was considerably more frightening at 40%.

Ian Potter , (Operations Manager of ARLA) commented: ‘ The planned rise of CGT may not be as extreme as many had anticipated, but it still comes with little consideration for the needs of landlords. Because of this, the Chancellor risks driving thos landlords paying the higher rate of tax from an already very fragile housing market, at a time when they should be actively encouraged to stay and , ideally, further invest.’

Regent Lettings!

Since staring up in 2007 Regent Lettings has become one of the most prestigious letting agents in West Berkshire.Lead by its proprietor Graeme Leech, the company has grown rapidly in the last two years and puts its success down to excellent customer service and first rate advice.

Regent Lettings pride themselves on their service to customers and clients and have managed to raise their profile by personal referrals, amongst other things. Joanne Harvey, a Newbury businesswoman and client commented, ‘I was surprised at the ease with which Regent Lettings dealt with my initial enquiry, right through to the actual placing of a tenant. It is a process I wish I had employed sooner. It is such a refreshing change to hand over to people who are knowledgeable, professional, fair to both landlord and tenant, and succinct when explaining legislation changes, and I am delighted to be able to recommend their services to other buy-to-let friends and colleagues.’

Another happy customer, Landlord Mark Birds said, ‘I think the service offered by Regent lettings is impeccable, exemplary and superb: head and shoulders above the competition.’

With satisfied customers like these it is easy to see why Regent Lettings do so well in the rental market.

However, Graeme Leech is keen to warn investors that ‘property should always be a long term investment.’ Many clients request the team’s advice when buying new property to rent, the wealth of knowledge the company have ensures that investors maximise return potential and choose the best investment properties.

TESTIMONIAL

“It was a huge decision to let my property out and having seen several agents in town I chose Graeme. He is extremely professional and knowledgeable and put me at ease straight away. Graeme is prompt in all communications and has never let me down at any time”.

Londoners to rent as opposed to buy in current climate!

Posted by Megan Krasewitz | Posted in General News | Posted on 17-06-2010

High street bank Santander has said renting a flat in London as opposed to getting a foot on the property ladder is more preferable, not to mention more sensible in the current financial climate.

Apparently there is more hope for buyers outside the capital  as the average payment to Landlords is only £86pcm more than mortgage repayments. The Land Registry has produced data that showed house prices in London were twice the national average, hence why more people are inclined to rent more modest properties in Britains’ wealthiest city!
