Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) have been introduced to help improve the energy efficiency of Buildings.
If you are looking to Rent a property you will now need to be given an EPC certificate by Law (October 2008). This certificate gives a rating from ‘A’ to ‘G’ with ‘A’ being the most efficient and with an average of ‘D’
Tenants and EPC
If you are interested in renting a property then an EPC must be made available to you free of charge. An EPC is only required for a property which is self contained and is valid for 10 years.
If you are a prospective tenant, an EPC is not required when you rent a room or share facilities.
